The history of the Piacenza family as wool weavers can be traced back to 1733 – and family members were even mentioned as wool merchants in the records of the Piedmont region 100 years earlier. With its impressive pedigree, the company is a member of the prestigious Henokiens Association, an international society of traditional businesses that have existed for at least 200 years and are still family owned. Throughout these many decades, the Piacenza family repeatedly did pioneering work in the processing of high-quality wool. In the early 19th century, for example, it was the first Italian factory to produce checked and patterned wool fabrics using Jacquard looms, which were completely new at the time. Innovations of this kind meant that success was achieved early on, even beyond Italy. Today's Piacenza Cashmere luxury knitwear brand has existed since 1990. With its soft, sometimes intricately patterned designs, it is an authority on haute couture jumpers and cardigans.
Global travel to find the best and warmest animal hair is an integral part of the Piacenza family's research. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, Mario Piacenza travelled to the Himalayan mountains, where he got to know the soft and particularly heat-insulating undercoat of the cashmere goat. He also discovered camel hair in North Africa. It provides protection even on icy desert nights, so it is an especially good choice for coats. Today, Piacenza uses cashmere from the Alashan desert that is selected on site. The wool weaving mill produces exceptionally soft, almost weightless cashmere fabric for its knitwear that takes the palpable luxury of this natural material to a whole new level. This fabric, along with the stylish designs, is a real asset to fashion and menswear. Jumpers and cardigans by Piacenza Cashmere in versatile colours such as beige, black or grey, tick all the boxes for elegant knitwear essentials. Turtleneck jumpers and accessories like scarves, with intricately knitted patterns and in bright shades, are statement pieces for autumn and winter.
