Closed for men stands for timeless denim, modern casual wear and well-thought-out styles that can be easily integrated into a wide variety of looks. The brand combines high-quality materials with clean cuts and authentic designs that are perfect for both everyday wear and special occasions. When you choose a garment from Closed, you are investing in long-lasting quality and a reliable companion that will offer stylish combination options for many years to come.
The Closed brand and denim are closely linked. Hardly any other brand is so synonymous with its jeans creations. However, these are not manufactured in the USA, but in Italy, more precisely at the Candiani weaving mill. The next steps are also carried out in Italy. For men's jeans, the company Incom further processes the models and sews them by hand. This is followed by washing, which is carried out by the companies Everst, Green Lab and Wash in Italy. Step by step, the brand achieves the perfect jeans – made in Italy.
So, it's safe to say that jeans have always been, and will always be, at the heart of Closed's menswear collection. Denim will continue to play a key role in future collections too. From timeless regular fits and relaxed cuts to slim fits that hug the body, there's something for everyone. Thanks to the diverse range of washes – from light blue to dark denim – you are guaranteed to find the style that perfectly suits your taste. In addition to trousers made from this material, Closed denim shirts are a real highlight. They are ideal for creating a complete look and are both casual and stylish.
With the collections that Closed produces throughout the year, the brand draws on various influences that shape the fashion world. In doing so, the company always ensures that its styles are characterised by longevity and outlast fashion trends.
Knitwear
From the finest knitwear for the transitional season to heavy wool blends for winter: Closed knitwear is an investment piece. The designs are mostly minimalist, with the focus on the structure of the yarns and the depth of colour. Cardigans made from a wool blend and various knitted jumpers form the basis of the styles. A particularly Hanseatic garment that no wardrobe should be without: a Closed half-zip jumper made of pure wool in navy blue with a zip fastening.
Trousers and Chinos
In addition to jeans, the brand offers an excellent selection of Closed trousers for men. The shorts, jogging bottoms, corduroy trousers and cotton trousers impress with their first-class fit and durable fabrics. They are the perfect alternative to jeans when the dress code is slightly more formal, but still relaxed. In earthy tones such as sand, olive or anthracite, they can be easily integrated into your existing wardrobe.
Overshirts, Shirts, T-shirts and Polo Shirts
The overshirts, shirts, T-shirts and Closed polo shirts for men are characterised by a casual fit and high-quality materials such as linen or cotton – comfort meets style.
Jackets & Coats
Closed men's jackets and coats range from minimalist designs to technically inspired parkas and elegant wool coats for the cold season.
The colours vary depending on the season. However, one thing is certain: the styles can be worn for years to come, as they are not based on trends but rather create sustainable, durable garments. Timeless shades such as beige, cream and navy are included. In autumn, olive green, dark grey or red are also popular, while stripes, light blue and brown are in demand in summer. A blue Closed jumper, for example, is a must-have in any collection.
Must-haves that can almost always be found are jersey made from various materials, cotton denim and knitwear made from fabrics such as wool or virgin wool. These fabrics are used for Closed jumpers for men and coats, among other things.
Almost 90 per cent of all Closed garments are produced in Europe, including Italy, Portugal, Romania and Lithuania. Close connections, shorter distances and social labour standards play a major role in this decision. Fair production conditions and good relationships with producers are important issues for Closed for Men. The label is also a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, which promotes greater transparency in supply chains and working conditions. In addition, the brand strives to be sustainable and is actively committed to further developing this issue.
The label is known as a Hamburg brand, but was founded in Italy by French designers Marithé and François Girbaud. The brand was initially called ‘ÇA’. In 1978, following a legal dispute, they changed the name to ‘Closed’. The company gained particular popularity in the 1980s for its denim creations.
Closed for men was one of the first brands to incorporate the stonewash process into its designs and to use water and chemical-reduced methods in various dyeing and washing techniques.
At the beginning of the 1990s, the brand changed hands and was taken over by Hamburg entrepreneurs Günther Giers and Hans Leplow. In 2001, it was then handed over to Gordon Giers and Til Nadler, who finally established Hamburg as the company's location. Shareholders Dieter Holzer and Werner and Maximilian Böck are also part of the brand.
