Distinctive and masculine: Belstaff men’s jackets are genuine style icons. Leather jacket, waxed cotton or warm down jacket: Born of the biker scene in England, each Belstaff jacket tells a story of cool bikers and neck-and-neck races. Worn with casual basics, a Belstaff men’s jacket brings British nonchalance into today’s urban context.
Unlike many short-lived, fast-fashion labels, British label Belstaff still represents genuine, traditional values, because it can already look back on nearly 100 years of history since it was established by Eli Belovitch. Back then it was still known for purely functional motorcycle clothing, but the label now has real cult status when it comes to luxurious clothing with authentic biker attitude. A few famous brand ambassadors have helped the label Belstaff to achieve this status.
They include aviation pioneer Amy Johnson, who in 1929 was the first female pilot – kitted out by Belstaff – to fly solo from London to Australia, as well as revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara, whose iconic Trialmaster jacket made a significant contribution to the model’s popularity. Even today Belstaff jackets and the cool biker look still find favour among the rich and famous: From George Clooney through Ewan McGregor to Sarah Jessica Parker, celebrities keep being spotted wearing Belstaff in their private life. Jackets, especially waxed jackets and leather jackets, have always been the brand’s flagship pieces. These are some of its distinguishing features: The phoenix on the sleeve that has perfectly embodied the signature cult, rebellion and luxury since 1969.
But ever since motorbikes came along – at the beginning of the 20th century – Belstaff has been supplying British bikers with jackets that keep out wind and weather as well as dust and stones.
After decades of progress had made Belstaff into a master at manufacturing robust biker jackets, as well as military equipment from tarpaulins to clothing for pilots, the label brought out the Trialmaster waxed cotton jacket in 1948, still a classic among men’s jackets from Belstaff. Eli Belovitch’s son-in-law Harry Grosberg had already brought the cotton for it from Egypt years before – Belstaff was one of the first clothing firms in Europe to use this durable material. The signature wax coating of the jackets fulfils a protective, water repellent function, while lending a casual and elegant appearance to the robust cotton surface. Numerous leather jackets such as the V Racer or Gangster models were no less iconic in men’s fashion. Our range also includes other men’s jackets from Belstaff: Down jackets, gilets and coats that also exude the label’s cool British style.
BRAUN Hamburg also stocks laid-back casual essentials from Belstaff to round off the distinctive biker look. Wear your Belstaff men’s jacket as part of a rebellious all-over biker look or style it with puristic casual basics for relaxed casual looks.
