Belstaff is an abbreviation made up of the founder’s surname and the county of Staffordshire in the English Midlands, the birthplace of the company. Belovitch learned early on how to work with coated textiles and created an iconic key piece in the form of the 'Trialmaster' waxed cotton jacket, modern versions of which are still being brought out today. The same goes for the cool leather jacket 'Gangster'.

The phoenix logo is intended to reflect the label’s resilience. According to Greek mythology, the phoenix symbolises continuation. The logo still features in every Belstaff collection today, and that includes jumpers.
