The Parajumpers brand for men was created in 2005 through a collaboration between the Italian company Ape & Partners and fashion designer Massimo Rossetti. Rossetti had the necessary expertise to found such a brand, having worked in fashion for many years. The background was as follows: Massimo Rossetti took an encounter with one of the famous members of the ‘210th Rescue Squadron’, the parachute squadron known as the Parajumpers, as inspiration to launch the ‘Parajumpers’ quilted jacket project. Stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, the Parajumpers (PJs) are a specialised group of highly qualified men and women with the mission of rescuing people in seemingly hopeless situations. To withstand the cold and wind, the teams are equipped with functional clothing made from a high-quality blend of materials. Rossetti’s many years of experience as a fashion designer in various renowned fashion houses ultimately provided the impetus: in 2006, the first PJs menswear collections took to the international catwalks.
Rossetti was fascinated by the rescue teams of the 210th Rescue Squadron, who risk their lives on parachute missions in some of the world’s most dangerous regions. It was this inspiration that led him to name the most iconic Parajumpers designs after the legendary missions of these heroes: Gobi, Denali and Kodiak.
