MONCLER MENSWEAR & ACCESSORIES
When entrepreneur René Ramillon established his label Moncler in 1952 nobody could have predicted the iconic direction the cult label would take. The name is derived from Monestier-de-Clermont, a mountain village near Grenoble. The neighbouring mountain, Mont Aiguille, appears in stylised form on the label’s logo. Moncler started off manufacturing mountaineering products. René Ramillon took the principle of warm down sleeping bags and adapted it to make down jackets. It wasn’t all that long before Moncler down jackets became established as equipment for expeditions into the mountain ranges of the Himalayas, to Alaska, and to other regions around the globe where warm clothing is absolutely necessary for survival.
Style conscious lifestyle brand
Moncler kitted out the French alpine skiing team with its down jackets at the 1968 Winter Olympics – and added the signature cockerel to the brand logo. Over time, Moncler developed into a lifestyle brand, ultimately presenting a complete fashion collection in 1999. The luxury products aren’t just popular with Hollywood celebrities. They also appeal to anyone who wants to dress in a sporty-chic style. Moncler jackets are now not only a status symbol on the ski slopes around the world – they also protect fashion-conscious city-dwellers across the globe against rain, cold and wind. Models like 'Maya', 'Clarmant', 'Affton' or 'Jeanbart' are equipped with highly functional down padding and stand out in Moncler’s signature style.
Outdoor fashion for everyday wear
Sporty Moncler down jackets often have retro elements that recall its early years. Moncler can also be totally different, and is even suitable for business wear with the fitted, elegant models such as 'Rodin'. Moncler jackets, as well as leisurewear, sneakers, Moncler sunglasses and other accessories are impressive across the board. Down gilets really are universal companions for changeable weather conditions, while Moncler sweat jackets and sweat pants are comfortable. Moncler sneakers add another highlight to modern casual outfits and offer exciting colour and material contrasts, as well as exceptional comfort. Warm scarves and hats add a modern touch with intricate knit patterns and contemporary washes to enhance the collection.
Bleu, blanc, rouge
The polo shirts in the collection also have the signature style that is synonymous with sporty elegance and timeless design. Moncler is functional and delivers optimum heat insulation in icy temperatures, but can also convey its unmistakable signature cool with the collections for the warmer season, while always standing out from the crowd. Moncler’s trade marks – classic down jackets with shiny finish and details in the tricolour design of the French flag – have earned the label its cult status. It’s now no longer possible to imagine high fashion without Moncler, and collaborations with various designers and artists such as Ami or FriendsWithYou have caused a stir.
