Wondering what makes Falke socks so special? The brand from Schmallenberg in the Sauerland region has been a benchmark in its field for decades. The focus is on comfortable, high-quality products that impress in fit, function, design, and colour alike. Whether it’s classic men’s socks that discreetly complement stylish business outfits, sporty ankle socks, or patterned and textured statement pieces, this heritage brand showcases its expertise: masterful craftsmen with years of experience at the knitting machine and in precise hand-finishing ensure that Falke men's socks not only meet but exceed all expectations of a comfortable yet modern sock. They make luxury tangible – without being ostentatious, even on your feet. Alongside the finest mercerised cotton, premium materials such as cashmere, merino wool, and silk are also used. The difference lies in the sophisticated details, which are continuously refined with passion: wide cuffs provide support and comfort, while reinforced stress zones ensure shape retention and durability. Today, Falke produces not only socks (including hiking, trekking, and running socks) but also underwear, trousers, jumpers, jackets, as well as legwear and sportswear.
The roots of the Falke brand date back to 1895 when roofer Franz Falke-Rohen spent the winter months working as a wages knitter. With his keen sense for quality and craftsmanship, he founded his own knitting mill –marking the beginning of a remarkable success story. In 1902, his eldest son, Franz Falke Junior, joined the company and later took over its management. Together, father and son made their first major expansion move in 1918 with the purchase of the "Wool and Hair Yarn Spinning Mill Carl Meisenburg" in Schmallenberg. Just two years later, they built a modern hosiery factory for producing Falke men's socks – the headquarters of the Falke Group to this day.
After the death of Franz Falke Senior in 1928, his son continued to lead the company. By acquiring the "Salomon Stern Knitting Factory", where his father had once worked as a knitter, he set the course for dynamic expansion.
In the 1950s, the third generation joined the business: Paul and Franz-Otto Falke modernised production, expanded the product range, and entered new markets. Another milestone was reached in 1958 with the acquisition of Feinstrumpfwerke Uhli, a company renowned for producing the first tights made from cotton and nylon.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Falke expanded its portfolio to include women's clothing but refocused on men's fashion from the late 1980s onwards. Beyond Germany, new production sites in Portugal, Austria, Hungary, and South Africa fueled international growth.
Through creative collaborations with Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Karl Lagerfeld, and Yves Saint Laurent, Falke cemented its reputation as a premium brand. In the 1990s, Paul Junior Falke and his cousin Franz-Peter took over the leadership. With strategic investments – including sponsorship of Formula 1 drivers and the acquisition of Leinefelder Textilwerke – the family business was successfully steered into the future.
Today, the brand represents tradition, innovation, and uncompromising quality. Whether it’s classic cotton socks, high-performance Falke sports socks for men with cushioning, unisex models, Falke hiking socks for men, or even medical Falke socks for men without elastic bands, designed for diabetics – the brand remains true to its high standards. The result: customers happily purchase one more pack of Falke men's socks.

As early as 1994, at a time when environmental protection played a secondary role in fashion, Falke Garne was awarded the German Environmental Prize. Under the guiding principle “We Care – With you every step for a better future”, Falke today pursues a comprehensive sustainability strategy: minimising energy consumption, waste, and defects are just as important as animal welfare. Falke exclusively uses mulesing-free wool, and the angora wool processed by the sock brand is also certified with the Caregora™ quality seal. Fair wages, good working conditions, and safety are continually monitored, and domestic production contributes to the company’s high social responsibility. Falke has switched its packaging to organic materials and has since used recycled paper to operate more sustainably. 90% of production takes place in its own factories to ensure the highest social and ecological standards. Thus, every pair of Falke men's socks not only offers incomparable comfort and outstanding quality but also stands for conscious consumption.
