Very British: ORLEBAR BROWN beachwear for men
Orlebar Brown swim shorts are much more than just swimming trunks. Founder and photographer Adam Brown launched the label in London in 2007 with the idea of creating beachwear based on classic men’s clothing. The era of poorly fitting boxer shorts for swimming was over. Instead, he used classic trouser cuts from the 1950s and 60s as an example to create perfectly fitting swim shorts with the models 'Setter' and 'Bulldog' that have now become classics in their own right. But there is actually far more to them than that: They are shorts that you can also swim in. You don’t need to change out of your Orlebar Brown shorts before going for a drink at the bar after a dip in the sea: Modern men look great at lunch or having a drink in the hotel bar in this elegant all-rounder for swimming pool and beach, with snap button, zip and side fasteners.
Orlebar Brown’s idea developed into a wide range of beachwear and holiday looks with a retro 60s poolside vibe. Every pair of shorts and every terry short sleeve shirt conveys the high society summer lifestyle on Palm Beach or the Riviera, as immortalized in the images by photographer Slim Aarons. The sophisticated style of movie hero James Bond, who was always well dressed (even on the beach) is another source of inspiration. Orlebar Brown is always presenting new collections in its 007 line that celebrate iconic Bond looks in a stylish design. In turn, Daniel Craig himself wore an Orlebar Brown ‘Setter’ in “Skyfall”.
