The distinctive style of Fay's coats is thanks to a discovery by Diego and Andrea Della Valle (who are also responsible for the Tod's and Hogan shoe labels under the Tod's S.p.A. umbrella). In the early 1980s, they became aware of the work jackets worn by firefighters from the Maine Fire Department in the USA.
