Crockett & Jones men‘s shoes have long been more than just a hidden gem in the international fashion scene – they are a staple for the stylish man. Whether a polyglot gentleman or a mod who has evolved from youth culture, connoisseurs have relied on the brand’s timeless models for decades.
The first shoemakers settled in Northamptonshire, England, during the Middle Ages, which is still considered the shoemaking capital of the country today. This long tradition is also the foundation of the well-established shoemaker Crockett & Jones. When two brothers-in-law, James Crockett and Charles Jones, founded their family business in 1879, Charles already had a history of at least three generations of shoemakers in his family. The first employees of Crockett & Jones were Charles’s siblings and wife. By 1900, more space was needed: what hadstarted as a small workshop became a factory, where the then newly invented Goodyear sewing machines were used for Crockett & Jones men’s shoes – and the second generation joined the company.
As international competition grew, the brand decided to focus even more on Goodyear-welted quality and craftsmanship – a distinctive feature of Crockett & Jones leather shoes to this day. In the 1970s, Jonathan Jones, the great-grandson of Charles Jones, worked for the brand and helped it achieve global success. Three James Bond films were later outfitted with the brand’s high-quality men’s shoes.
Stylish business shoes, casual Crockett & Jones penny loafers for leisure, classic derby and oxford shoes, and smart Crockett & Jones boots: the collections continue to leave the factory after two months of handcraft. The exceptional quality of fine calf leather, carefully crafted details, and the comfortable sole are evident in every pair of Crockett & Jones men’s shoes, from the inner materials to the finish. The production of each pair is carried out with the highest precision and a clear focus on comfort and durability.
Crockett & Jones shoes for men stand out through is the rare combination of traditional craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and the continuity of a family-owned business – a symbol of timeless elegance and true shoemaking culture:
Crockett & Jones shoes are still made in their own factory in Northampton – the historic shoemaking capital of England. Since 1897, traditional craftsmanship has been employed here. Every shoe is crafted in over 200 steps, from cutting to hand-dyeing, and takes up to eight weeks to complete.
All Crockett & Jones shoes for men are Goodyear-welted – one of the finest manufacturing techniques known for its extraordinary durability and flexibility. By 1910, the factory already had state-of-the-art sewing machines that allowed for the precise attachment of the sole using the Goodyear-welted method. The advantage: unlike glued manufacturing methods, the sole will not simply detach from the shoe. And when the sole wears out after years of use, it can be replaced without damaging the upper part of the shoe. This method is used for both fine leather and more water-resistant rubber soles. As a result, a Crockett & Jones designer shoe can accompany a man for a lifetime.
The perfect fit is essential for long-term enjoyment of your Crockett & Jones men’s shoes. They generally fit true to size, but we often recommend going half a size up, especially for slightly wider feet. You’ll find fit information on the product pages in our shop. The shoes should feel comfortable from the first moment.
