A contemporary reinterpretation of classic menswear – made in Italy yet infused with a distinctly British metropolitan spirit: this unique combination lies at the heart of Harris Wharf London. Founded by siblings Giulia and Aldo Acchiardi, the brand is rooted in a family-owned factory in Turin that has been in operation since 1928. Originally, their grandparents produced ladies’ gloves there; today, the facility manufactures a wide range of garments for the acclaimed label. While Giulia oversees the creative direction, Aldo – who trained under Vivienne Westwood – is responsible for production and distribution.
The brand’s dual identity reflects Giulia Acchiardi’s own background. Having studied fashion in both Italy and the United Kingdom, and gained valuable experience working in London for Alexander McQueen, she was inspired to launch Harris Wharf London in 2008. The label takes its name from Harris Wharf in Islington, where Giulia lived during her studies and from which she continues to draw inspiration for her collections. Clean-lined coats, jackets and blazers crafted from luxurious wool and cashmere fabrics define the aesthetic of this Anglo-Italian label. Exceptional quality stems from the combination of traditional Italian craftsmanship and carefully selected Italian textiles. Straightforward, masculine silhouettes and the brand’s signature unlined construction create a sense of lightness and effortless sophistication. Reflecting the clarity of the designs, the colour palette ranges from understated neutrals to bold solid hues, occasionally complemented by subtle patterns.
The siblings’ success speaks for itself. Following the opening of their first store, Workshop, in Camden Passage in 2009, a second boutique soon followed in Notting Hill. Today, Harris Wharf London is stocked not only in its own stores but also in some of the world’s most prestigious department stores and concept boutiques.
