Masculine Bloom: Erdem for Men
“It was amazing to be able to explore menswear in my language and thrilling to see the Erdem man brought to life”, said Erdem Moralioğlu in an interview with GQ magazine in 2021, for the launch of his first menswear collection. The Canadian with Turkish roots graduated with a degree in fashion from Ryerson University in Toronto. He then completed a master's degree in fashion design at the Royal College of Arts in London in 2000. Just one year after the brand was founded in 2005, former upmarket New York department store Barneys bought parts of its debut collection, which initially only included women's clothing.
IN FULL BLOOM:
Numerous sponsorship awards and "Designer of the Year" awards followed, which quickly made him a major player in the fashion industry. Presentation of the sponsorship award by the renowned British Fashion Council was a particular highlight. His rapid rise was also fuelled by celebrities like Kate Middleton, Julianne Moore, Tilda Swinton, Anna Wintour, Michelle Obama and Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore Moralioğlu’s creations in silk, organza and cotton with floral prints, on red carpets and at events. His collaborations with Mackintosh, Swarovski and H&M enjoyed similar success.
GARDEN OF ERDEM
The London-based brand describes its elegant collections as an “interplay of beauty and strength”. The flower has been Erdem's recurring theme from the beginning. Moralioğlu shows it in all its glory as a romantic print in flowing silk. He chooses modern silhouettes for a contrast that creates an exciting break. The designer, who was born in 1977 in Montreal, Canada, uses the same approach and fine materials for his men’s collection – transcending gender boundaries, combining tough and delicate and making his creations wearable for all sizes.
Along with the main collections, Erdem’s range also includes a Cruise Collection with vacation looks and a Bridal Collection. Discover the latest designs for men by Erdem with the label's signature floral prints online at BRAUN Hamburg.
