Armani is more than just a fashion label, Armani is personality. A genuine self-made entrepreneur, Giorgio Armani found his way into the world of fashion as a young man through jobs as a window dresser and men's fashion salesman after quitting medical school and after military service. After his designs for some notable Italian labels were celebrated by the international press, his partner of many years, Sergio Galeotti, persuaded him in the 1970s to set up his own design studio and his own brand. Armani has long since literally become an empire with numerous sidelines, including Emporio Armani. Nevertheless, Armani is one of the few big stars in the fashion universe that has remained a family business. Until his death in September 2025, Giorgio Armani was the sole shareholder of his brand, which includes various family members in key positions of responsibility.
