Designer fashion by Saint Laurent
He was one of the most iconic haute-couture fashion designers: Yves Saint Laurent. He arrived in Paris when he was 17, and started an apprenticeship in fashion and stage design. In the 1960s, at just 21 years of age, he was appointed Christian Dior's chief designer, and took over the running of the Dior fashion house after Dior's death. He debuted his first collection in 1958, which became a worldwide success. In 1961, he founded his own high fashion brand 'Yves Saint Laurent' with his charismatic and down-to-earth business and life partner Pierre Bergé. His vision would finally truly become reality.

After many years of success, the revolutionary fashion designer Saint Laurent officially bid farewell to the fashion world with a final legendary retrospective fashion show in 2002. He died after a prolonged illness in 2008.
A film was released in 2014 about the life and career of Yves Saint Laurent, which focussed on his relationship with Bergé, and also showed important milestones from the fashion designer's life. The social setting and zeitgeist of the 1960ies is also captured – a portrait of a time and a world in which high fashion was also an art form.
