Marc Jacobs designer fashion
Marc Jacobs – a compilation of the most influential fashion designers of our time would not be complete without his name. His attraction towards all things fashion and his unique sense of creativity were brought to the born-and-bred New Yorker early on. At a very young age he started to develop a passion for fashion and was taught knitting by his grandmother who raised him after his father’s early death. Therefore it was not surprising that he attended renowned Parsons New School of Design to study fashion.
His grandmother’s unique, handmade jumpers were the key success factor for his almost legendary final grunge collection, which landed him his first job as a designer at American fashion house Perry Ellis. In 1993, Marc Jacobs finally founded his first own fashion label Marc Jacobs. His label comprises lines for women, men and children, and until 2015, his secondary line Marc by Marc Jacobs (MBMJ). Besides clothing, he also offers Marc Jacob shoes and accessories. His success attracted the attention of French luxury label Louis Vuitton, which appointed him as their creative director in Paris.
With his commitment of many years for heritage label Louis Vuitton he achieved his perhaps most significant success: He helped the Parisian business, that was to date mostly famous of their bags and luggage, shine anew and left his own mark and also the necessary zeitgeist. He was for example responsible for successful cooperations with graffiti artist Stephen Sprouse or Comme des Garçons. Louis Vuitton’s creatively staged ready-to-wear runway shows were the highlight
of every season, and the luxurious collections were inspired by stylistic clashes of a grungy attitude as well as playful and contemporary elements. Marc Jacobs’ creations reflect confidence; they are innovative and wearable at the same time and work well in relaxed casual outfits or extravagant statement looks. The Marc Jacobs range at Braun Hamburg comprises Marc Jacobs Sneakers and classic suits just as well as casual essential pieces such as printed t-shirts and jeans.
