In the beginning, Boss specialised in making occupational clothing for men. As time went by, work clothes were replaced by traditional menswear.
In 1985, the company management decided to take a decisive step: The corporation went public on 19 December 1985, starting with preferred shares.
In addition to men’s fashion, the first designs for a ladies collection were created in 1997 and first presented to the market in 2000.
The company has four primary lines of menswear (Boss Orange, Boss Green, Hugo Boss Black Label and Hugo Boss Red Label), catering for a wide range of customers.
