C.P. Company: Performance and innovation
With its finger on the pulse but always one step ahead: C.P. Company experiments, explores and develops – until it creates the perfect piece of clothing or accessory. Italian label C.P. Company combines military, sports and workwear to create perfectly detailed designs. The technical materials used have names like “C.P. Shell Recycled”, “Flatt Nylon” and “Memri” but what they all have in common is maximum functionality. They are quick-drying, windproof, breathable, elastic and/or easily stowed.
Designers Paul Harvey and Alessandro Pungetti are responsible for the creative and innovative designs, along with the brand’s founder Massimo Osti. C.P. Company successfully links up themes such as fashion and music with multifunctionality. Massimo Osti has been supporting talented young musicians since the 1980s. It all began at the end of the 1970s with Italian musician and singer Lucio Dalla, who wore a selection of C.P. designs at his performances – Massimo and Lucio have been close friends ever since. Together with Fondazione Lucio Dalla, the brand has been supporting young designers since then.
The label expresses its fascination with military uniforms, especially British ones, in its fashions: The military, utility and sportswear influences are unmistakable. One of the books he collected on this subject also provided the motif for what has been the brand’s logo since 1978 – the British sailor. At the same time, the name of the label originally established as Chester Perry was changed to C.P. Company for reasons relating to trade mark law. Along with its sister company Stone Island C.P. Company is renowned for its piece-dyed creations. This is a process where the assembled garment is dyed in one piece. The Italian label developed the garment-dyed process in collaboration with chemists in the mid 1970s – it’s a technique that defines the look of jackets, sweatshirts, T-shirts and other garments and gives an interesting vintage finish. A selection of sweatshirts, T-shirts and caps proudly bear the recently created GDE print, which stands for "Garments Dyeing Excellence". The jackets "Explorer" and "Goggle Jacket" with "lens" are another USP with a futuristic feel. The "lens" is a pair of sunglasses integrated into the hood. Another lens has been positioned on the cuff and allows the wearer to look at their watch without having to roll up their sleeve.
