Moncler X AMI – “Moncler A”

The Parisian label “Ami” has just completed its first collaboration with the French-Italian label Moncler. BRAUN Hamburg is one of a handful selected retailers to carry the “Capsule Collection”. Alexandre Mattiussi is the artistic brain behind the Parisian label Ami. This collection was his first for the fashion house Moncler. The designs are sporty, clean and sophisticated.

Moncler, founded in 1952, has risen to fame with its luxurious padded down jackets. The label’s history began with the production of ski bindings. The company fitted out mountaineers for their trips to the highest peaks in the world. Moncler received worldwide praise and admiration in 1968, when he designed the official outfit of the French national ski team for the Winter Olympics with particularly brightly coloured jackets. The brand has gone from strength to strength ever since. The brand is seen as the “inventor” of the modern down jacket – functional, yet chic.

The young Parisian label Ami is seen as clean and sophisticated. Founder Alexandre Mattiussi learned his trade at Dior, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs before founding his own label in Paris in 2011, where he continues to design effortless, contemporary looks for men. His designs are understated and practical – in his own words: "This collection […] is a proposition of real clothes for a real man." The look is comfortable yet elegant, with a down-to-Earth flair and a top quality appearance. Mattussi’s brand is fresh, courageous, and creates high-end casual and sporty city looks.

The Capsule Collection is a stand-out project, combining the sporty approach of Moncler with Ami’s affinity to high-end casualwear. Key pieces of the collection are jumpers with an extra large Moncler logo and jackets with sheepskin appliqués. Blazers and a range of accessories complete the collection. Patterns like herringbone and chequers set the tone. A special feature is the logo on one of the jumpers, which is a combination of the Ami and Moncler labels.
